Motorola Motosplit: Multi-slide touchscreen QWERTY?

February 8th, 2010

When it comes to design, Motorola is coming out with something entirely new and impressive these days. After a backwords flipping QWERTY with the Motorola Backflip, here comes multiple orientation keyboard phone — Motosplit. The rumored Motosplit is expected to have a unique form-factor, according to the leaked design image shown above. The phone is rumored to be featuring a multi-sliding keyboard. The keyboard can be a numeric keypad as well as a full QWERTY because it uses touch sensitive monochrome displays for keys.

The cut-outs for the ‘touch-keys’ match the counter of a standard finger to make typing easier. The key label would change according to the slide layout in use. The keyboard can be slide downwards for use as a standard numerical keypad and can also slide sideways to be used as QWERTY in landscape mode.

Other rumored specifications include a screen-size same as that of the Motorola Droid (3.7“, 480 x 854) and a snapdragon 1GHz processor. The phone is expected to be official in Q3 2010.

sholes

After tones of rumors about Motorola’s upcoming lineup powered by Android OS,here is something concrete and worth a look. The Sholes appears to be a strong full touchscreen with a sliding QWERTY. Reports suggest that this would land sometime in October and support both CDMA and EVDO Rev A. Here are the rumored specs:

  • 3.7” Touch Screen (480 x 854)
  • 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM + Micro SDHC slot

Leaked Android devices

May 4th, 2009

moto-android-1 moto-android-2

Recently 3 upcoming Android devices are out leaked on the internet. One that we have already seen is the Samsung i7500, the other two are Motorola devices with physical QWERTY’s. It seems Motorola might well be the first Android manufacturer to sport a physical keyboard (that two with both styles – see images). This would certainly give it an edge over the competition. But will this be enough to save Motorola?

With G1 and Magic from HTC already released and othere like Acer & Sony Ericsson promising Android powered devices by year end, we should see over half dozen Android smartphones by Christmas. If you are planning an Android, the only other thing you whould keep a check is on iPhone 3 news!

Also confirmed that the HTC Magic is coming to T-Mobile as Mytouch 3G in USA.
