We have already seen the Motorola Backflip and the Motorola CLIQ/DEXT, the two Android powered phones from Motorola featuring its custom MOTOBLUR user interface. Joining the league is the latest Motorola QUENCH which would be known as Motorola CLIQ XT in the US. The handset would be available in US exclusively through T-Mobile. (more…)

When it comes to design, Motorola is coming out with something entirely new and impressive these days. After a backwords flipping QWERTY with the Motorola Backflip, here comes multiple orientation keyboard phone — Motosplit. The rumored Motosplit is expected to have a unique form-factor, according to the leaked design image shown above. The phone is rumored to be featuring a multi-sliding keyboard. The keyboard can be a numeric keypad as well as a full QWERTY because it uses touch sensitive monochrome displays for keys.
The cut-outs for the ‘touch-keys’ match the counter of a standard finger to make typing easier. The key label would change according to the slide layout in use. The keyboard can be slide downwards for use as a standard numerical keypad and can also slide sideways to be used as QWERTY in landscape mode.
Other rumored specifications include a screen-size same as that of the Motorola Droid (3.7“, 480 x 854) and a snapdragon 1GHz processor. The phone is expected to be official in Q3 2010.

From consumer complaints to confusion to the software problems, Google is seeing it all. But this one has come right out of the blue.
From what we read, it seems like Nexusone is being sued for copyright violations.

Now this one starts with Philip K Dicks novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”. This book was widely appreciated and thence later made into a sci-fi movie called “Blade Runner” having Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer in the lead , which again was a huge hit among the sci-fi movie fans. (more…)

Motorola has officially announced the Motorola Backflip, the phone with a unique form factor we told you about. The Motorolla Backflip is a full touchscreen on the front and a full QWERTY keyboard at the back. Instead of sliding out the keyboard, the user needs to pull the front up and flip it backwards to get the phone in the typing position. Oh, and not to miss… it runs Android 2.1.
The Motorola Backflip is promoted as the ultimate social networking phone though the design of the Ice Phone tripleflip we saw last year at CES was much more appealing. The phone features Motorola’s MOTOBLUR (more…)

When it comes to Android, Motorola and HTC seems to be the top phone manufacturers putting a huge stake on the Google’s open source operating system. After the success of Droid, Motorola has been working on a number of new android handsets and even on an android application store. The latest rumors are that Motorola is all set to unveil two more Android devices next week at CES.
According to Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry, Motorola may announce two new android handsets in CES 2010, one on each AT&T and Verizon. Both the handsets are expected to have an OLED acreen and a slide-out QWERTY. The AT&T handset is expected to be the rumored Motorola Backflip (shown in picture above). Backflip has a (more…)

A number of users have reported an issue with a loose battery cover on the Motorola Droid. Flicker user Anticitizen had gone to Verizon to rectify the same issue and got “an answer” in the form of a Verizon Band-Aid, as shown above.
A band-aid to for a loose battery cover on a $200 phone? Verizon seriously needs to develop a better solution to the problem.

Motorola is working on its web-based application store for Android called “SHOP4APPS”. Android and Me got a sneak peek of the application store during its testing.
Are they building an application store for just a couple of devices? Motorola sure sees a bright future for itself in Android. With the Android Market already in place, an introduction of a Motorola-branded Android application store would give its users more options to shop for apps.
The purchase of applications can be done through (more…)

If there is something that the LG Cookie, Samsung Star/Corby, and the upcoming Nokia 5230 has taught Motorola, it’s the potential of a low-cost touchscreen. It seems that Motorola has taken this to heart and is hitting this segment with “Crush”. Crush has a simple candybar handset design that resembles the Dell Mini 3i, featuring a capacitive touchscreen and two buttons on the top (lock and power). With a 2 year contract and a $50 mail-in rebate, US Cellular will probably look to sell more than just a handful of this phone. But having something like the Palm Pixi available at $99 certainly ‘crushes’ the MotoCrush. I need not mention here but this ain’t gonna bring ground breaking sales to either Motorola or US Cellular.
No information on both the internal memory and the OS is provided, but this phone probably Linux, as seen in the A760 / A1200 series from Motorola.

Last year Alexander was believed to be the device that Motorola was banking upon to save the sinking mobile business. However sources now claim that Motorola has canceled the the Alexander (which we feel looked similar to the XDA IIs and also the PRE in design). While no reasons are out for the same, the device was never actually official (though we did see live pic of the same).

Not thats weird, Apparently motorola doesn’t want its Ultra-Luxurious handset Aura to retail on eBay! Reports suggest that Mototorla might ask Aura buyers to sign a contract that the handset will never appear on eBay. So much to maintain exclusivity? Well I would say, concentrate your efforts on better products instead!

Presenting the Moto Aura – Expensive luxury phone J. With a swirl design and ultra sexy looks this one will burn $2000 off your pockets. The rotation is controlled by 130 precision ball bearings and is guaranteed the same crisp motion even after 100000 flips. Aura would go on sale on December 4.
The display is a 1.55-inch one with 16 million colors and a 300 dpi resolution – a first for a circular mobile phone screen. The dislpay is also protected by a grade 1, 62-carat sapphire crystal, which should keep scratches away. [source]

We read about
Motorola’s last hope to survive in the mobile market. And here we have some leaked shots of the Motorola Alexander. It immediately reminds me of the
O2 XDA IIs, but this one appears a little short. The rumored specs mentions a 5 or 8 MP camera, a NVIDIA chip (for 3D graphics) and Windows Mobile 6.1! Expected to be release by Year end, this one better be good (though looks ugly).

The buzz about Motorola planning to sell of its cellphone division is strong again. And as it seems the revival plan for motorola isn’t working. I have been a Motorola fan. Frankly they were good! It is the only company who provides good after sales service in India, All others like SE and Nokia has disappointed us. But only if they could provide equally good products consistently.
According to an estimate Motorola’s cellphone division which was valued at $8bln untill last year, is now considered worth only $500 million. Thats a huge amount of value to lose in a year. And if that was not enough, some analysts believe that Motorola might have to pay something to get rid of the troubled handset division.
A lot of blame has been publicly put on the inefficient management at Motorola. The co has struggled to keep up the good work after the superhit MotoRazr in 2004. Frankly the MotoRazr 2 (V8) should have released a year earlier. Motorola has also failed to advance its Linux based A-series too well. The A780 and A1200 didn’t do any magic, and upgrades were slow to come out. Even the 5MP ZN5 which is recently announced is late vs the competition, and only the existing supply contracts that Motorola has is supporting it!

Its all Motorola around us for the day. Firstly the MotoZINE series: ZN5 along with the Motorola Alexander 8megapixel rumor and now the release of the much hyped and by rumor (leaks) A1800 and A1600 (upgrade’s to the MotoMING A1200; launched in china). While both handsets are powered by Linux (yes the popular A series platform) and offer GPS, both off them disappoint with no WiFi or 3G. No matter what, Nothing matches the charm of the good old Motorola A760. More details downstairs:
Motorola A1600 Specs
- Powered by Linux OS
- Quad-band GSM with EDGE (Lacks 3G)
- 3 MP Camera with continuous autofocus
- GPS with geotagging
- Stereo FM Radio and Bluetooth with AD2P support
- MicroSD and MicroUSB port
- No wi-fi
- Business card scanner application and scanner translation capacity
Motorola A1800 Specs
A1800 is similar to A1600 in specs. But offers Dual Sim operations (GSM+CDMA) but leaves out EDGE.
UPDATE: I am reading about some Calls and SMS FIREWALL in the A1800. Not sure if its in A1600. Read
Pictures Coming Soon @Gallery
And here we also have the pricing estimates. According the to Motorola Official rates in China the A1600 sells for INR Rs 22900 ($550) approx and the A1800 sells for INR Rs 34000 ($820) approx
Motorola A1800 (Motoming 1800) leaked specs were spot-on!
