Palm Foleo coming back as a netbook?

May 2nd, 2009

foleo-ii

Palm canceled its much criticized Foleo back in 2007. But the reason was not that the product idea was bad. Palm wanted to focus all their energies on their new platform i.e. WebOS. The picture looks very clear now with the old Palm OS being discontinued, there was no point in developing the Foleo which would have been outdated by now. So in comes the idea: Foleo II – The Netbook!

Since Sept 2007, when Palm canceled the original Foleo the netbook market has emerged very strongly. Almost everyone is making a new low cost laptop and its selling like hot cakes. It is believed that the Palm WebOS is verymuch capable of running a mini notebook type device just like the iPhone OS 3.0 and the Google backed Android.

According to Trip Chowdhry, an analyst with Global Equities Research, three former Apple iPod guys are working on the new Foleo and it might be priced in the range of $399. Now that would be a great companion to the Palm Pre and a netbook killer if they manage to pump in WiFi and a few more things. All the best Palm :)

Palm Centro 2 to powered by webOS?

January 14th, 2009

The low cost Palm Centro that helped Palm to earn some $$ last year seems to be ready for an upgrade. And what better than the new Palm webOS to run on it. Palm PRE happens to be the first device offering the webOS, and the platform is certainly promsing with its card deck multitasking approach and synergy. As announced at CES, many more Palm devices on the platform are already in works.

So a low cost Centro 2 powered by webOS (and as per rumors this would be without the QWERTY, that means a larger touch screen) can really boost things for Palm. This would certainly compliment the Palm PRE. We are excited ;)
