Until now, we have had enough gossip about the Sony Ericsson’s Android phone that just kept changing names every time a new rumor surfaced. But this time is the first there has been some move from SE giving some proof of the handset becoming official soon. SE may call it another Xperia (X3, X5 or X10) or the Rachael project, but for now we’re going to refer it as Rachael.

While SE confirmed the WM 6.5 based Xperia X2 recently putting the Android based Xperia rumors with a ‘?’, latest round of rumors suggest that the X3 would be outed in Jan 2010. This might be around the same time as the X2 hits the shelf’s.
Leaked shots of the X3 suggest that it would be a full touchscreen Android with no physical QWERTY (much like the Nokia X6). We have already seen a couple of leaked shots for the X3 along with rumored specs. With Android becoming a crowded space, Sony Ericsson would certainly like to come out with its own offering asap.

We have kept you updated with plenty of rumors about Sony Ericsson’s Xperia 2 and Xperia 3. Unexpectedly, the Xperia3 has shown up for a pre-order on Expansis – a UK based online gadget retailer. Popularly known as the Rachel till now, the Xperia 3 has been put for pre-order by the website with detailed specifications.
- 8Mp camera with 8x digital zoom, smile shutter, image stabilization and face detection
- LED flash
- 4″ touchscreen with 800×400 resolution
- Quad-band, 3G
- WiFi
- USB and Bluetooth connectivity
- microSDHC support
- 3.5mm audio jack

Xperia 3 is the first Android handset from Sony Ericsson. The Xperia 2 would be running on the Windows Mobile platform as that of the first Xperia. No news on the date of availability and pricing. No official announcement from SE.
