Sony Ericsson is rolling out some extremely cool accessories (wish the cellphones were equally good) and after the fantastic IS800 Bluetooth headset, we now have our hands on the MS500.
SE MS500 is a 2 watt, Bluetooth 2.1 wireless speaker that promises easy listening to music on the go. We tested this with a range of devices and it connected with all of them flawlessly, but the sad part is that the iPhone or any Nokia won’t be the right companion to this. You need a Sony Ericsson device to get the most out of this. Using a N72 or Nokia 6700 gives lesser audio output than the integrated speakers on the Nokia. Bose introduced the wireless speakers dubbed SoundLink that stream audio from your PC directly to the portable speakers. Interestingly, these speakers do not use your PC’s WiFi or Bluetooth to create the connection. The music system creates its own wireless network using a USB dongle. All you need to do is plug-in the dongle and the speaker is good to Go.
The single piece speaker gets the music from your PC across walls and doors. No wordings on the range though, but when it comes from Bose its acceptable to assume that the audio quality would be as good in your garden as in the drawing room. The unit also comes with a remote control to switch tracks on iTunes and Windows Media Player.
The speaker comes with a lithium ion rechargeable battery. The battery gives a music playback of 3 hours when full charged and played on full volume. Higher playback time can be expected on lower volumes. The speaker also supports an Aux-in jack to dock portable media devices like iPod.
Looks like a device for those who keep all their music in the computer but don’t want to be sitting around it to listen to it. Overpriced like all other Bose products, the speaker would hit the shelves on 27th Aug @$550.
