Microsoft has tied up with the largest manufacturer of cellphones in the world to bring Office Mobile and other enterprise goodies (Microsoft business communications, collaboration and device management software ) to the symbian platform. These services from Microsoft are currently only for Windows Mobile, as a part of the deal Nokia is also renewing its Microsoft Activesync license. (read the complete press release here)

top-10

Its pretty clear that Nokia is trying to cement its foot in US and faces tough competition. This makes Android, iPhone and the Blackberry a common enemy for both Microsoft and Nokia. While Nokia looks to strengthen Symbian and target US as a market where its smartphones have failed to dent the competitors marketshare, Microsoft is looking to lure business users who are extremely loyal to the Blackberry.
