Twitter officialy including Retweet as a feature

Looking at the popularity of RT or retweet, twitter has decided to include it as a feature on the microblogging platform. The plan to officially accept retweet has been named as project retweet.
Twitter also released a pic (above) which shows how the retweet feature would look on the microblogging platform. The retweet would show the people who have retweeted a tweet along with their thumbnails under the retweet.
Popularity of retweets is not the only reason for twitter to include it as a feature. Making retweet a function would also reduce confusion to the people new to tweeter.
BTW for the ones who do not know, retweet or RT is used by twitter users to tweet someone else’ tweet. The user copying a tweet just mentions the source of tweet by writing RT before the original user’s name (for ex. RT @onlygizmos).

Great straightforward, simple to understande post. I’ve recently joined Twitter and trying to unravel the best etiquette to using someone elses tweet. It all seems so simple now, just copy it and drop RT before the comment. I’m off now to follow you too. Thanks for this
