Uttarakhand Tragedy: Aircel Sets Up Mobile Booths, Offers Free Calls

In an attempt to help people still stranded in flood affected loacations in Uttarakhand, Aircel has set up free mobile booths in the region. These mobile booths will aid victims and help them communicate with their loved ones in other parts of the country for free. The Mobile Booths have been set up at Koti Relief Camp in Tehri district. These booths according to Aircel are complete with helpdesks and handsets that victims can use to call up their loved ones. They ahve also set up mobile charging units using which people with discharged mobile phones can recharge their phones and then communicate with their relatives. All tehse services would be free of cost.

Aircel adds in a press release: “The mobile booths have been set up to provide assistance to affected people coming in from Kedarnath, Rudraprayag and Gaurikund areas to the Koti Camp. The team from Aircel is also assisting people with other communication facilities regarding their further movements to base stations in Dehradun and Rishikesh.”

In addition to these mobile booths, Aircel has also announced that they have set up two helpline mobile numbers that will assist relatives to try and locate the present of last known location of their loved ones. All the caller needs to do is to submit the telephone number of the person who is being searched for and Aircel will try to track them down. The two helpline numbers are: + 91 9716215000 and + 91 9716218000.

It is heartening to see companies like Aircel trying to do their bit during the time of a tragedy. We hope more corporates pitch in and make a difference in the rescue efforts on in that area.
