Vaio Enters The Smartphone Market By Launching Vaio Phone

Smartphone industry has seen a lot of new entrants. The latest to hit the Indian markets is InFocus M2, which is more than just for the selfie lovers. Also the Mobile World Congress saw the Blackphone 2 surfacing for the security concerned users. Smartphone manufacturers are designing their devices to cater all sorts of user base. And now Vaio, a former Sony laptop unit, has launched its first smartphone in Japan to offer good specifications in all fields. The Vaio Phone (VA-10J) smartphone has been priced at JPY 51,000 (around INR 26,000). This is for the unlocked model. Another option for the users it to get it at JPY 4000 (around INR 2,100) which comes with data plans from Japanese telecom service provider B-mobile.

The Vaio Phone is set to go on sale by March 20th but its availability in other parts of the world is still unspecified. Vaio Phone holds a 5-inch IPS display unit offering HD (720*1280 pixels) resolution. It sports a quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz. The processor build remains undisclosed. Engadget Japan claims the processor to be Snapdragon 410. It is coupled with a 2GB RAM.


The smartphone includes an inbuilt memory capacity of 16GB. Vaio Phone can support the memory unit extension up to 64GB. For the shutterbugs, the device brings in appreciable camera modules. It sports a 13MP rear camera which is also equipped with a LED flash unit. Rear camera can record videos of resolution 1080p.  The secondary snapper reads out to be 5MP type.

Vaio Phone is a single-SIM device. According to Engadget Japan, it will run on Android Lollipop 5.0 and is speculated to be available in only Black colour variant. It holds a 2500mAh non-removable battery. Vaio claims the battery to last for about 13 hours of talk-time and 500 hours of stand-by time. Apart from supporting 4G LTE, other connectivity features read as WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, micro-USB, etc.


This device promises to bring good features in all the departments. And with a new entrant in the market, users will have more options to choose their device. Although there are no revelations on its global availability, Vaio fans can only hope for its entry in the Indian markets very soon.
