Video: Android Applications Working On The Blackberry Playbook

We have been hearing about Android applications running on the Blackberry Playbook for quite some time now, but haven’t seen any demo of the Android app running on the Playbook. Android applications were shown running on the Blackberry playbook just today at the Blackberry world.

The working of Android apps on the playbook is something similar to how AIR applications run on Adobe AIR. There is an application called as “player” which acts as the framework for the Android application to run on the playbook. If the player application is already running then all the Android application can run when clicked on it, if the player application is not running then when you click on the Android application it will first prompt you to run the player application and then run the Android application. The applications look and function as in the android market. The icons also look like the Android app icons.

This is a great feature on the Blackberry playbook and will not only increase the apps for their tablet device but will also bring in more developers. There is no lag or glitches while running the Android application on the Playbook and it is very smooth.
