When Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had claimed in December 2017 that the next flagship phone from the company would be fueled by Snapdragon 845, the rumor mill speculated that he could be talking about the Mi 7. However, recent reports have suggested that Mi 7 won’t be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Instead, it will be launching the Mi MIX 2S. The Mi 7’s arrival is not far away as rumors surrounding claim that it would be launching in April this year. A leaked image has appeared to reveal the key specs of the Mi 7.
The image reveals that the Mi 7 would be housing a 5.6-inch display. It will be delivering Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. Hence, it could be the first Mi series smartphone to arrive with 18:9 aspect ratio display.
The Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8 GB of RAM will be fueling the Mi 7. It has a native storage of 128 GB. These specs suggest that it could be a higher configuration model and the company may also unveil a lower variant for it featuring 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It is equipped with a dual camera setup featuring a pair of 16-megapixel sensors.
The screenshot states that the Mi 7 is running on MIUI 9 Developer ROM version 8.1. It will be arriving with a stable version of the MIUI 9 at launch. The Mi 6 came with a 3,350mAh capacity battery, but the leaked screenshot says that the Mi 7 will be equipped with a huge battery of 4,480 mAh.
Rumors have it that Xiaomi will be launching Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus. The latter is expected to house a bigger FHD+ resolution screen of 6 inches. The larger variant is also expected to be driven by Snapdragon 845. Also, the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus will be the first ever Xiaomi smartphones to carry support for wireless charging. Both the phones are speculated to carry the same glass and metal combination design that was made available on the Mi 6. The Mi 7 is expected to arrive in China with a starting price of 2,999 Yuan (~Rs. 30,600).
