Apple first online-only event of the year was held last week. The Cupertino-based tech giant launched a slew of devices including the long-rumoured AirTags. It is a smart tracker which is literally the size of a bottle cap. The device is used to find lost or misplaced items like wallets, keychains, handbags and more. It will compete against similar offerings from Tile and Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag.

Apple AirTags specifications and features
The Apple AirTags is a circular-shaped small size tracker. It can be customised by the user with free engraving including text and 31 emojis. The rear side of the AirTags has an Apple logo. The tracking device can be attached to or secured to items via Apple-designed leather loop and a ring. The Bluetooth trackers are also IP67 rated water and dust resistant.
The Apple AirTags houses a U1 chip that utilises Ultra-Wideband technology. It is also found on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12. The tech communicates its location to Apple’s Find My app. The sensor is said to offer a better range and precise location tracking. Users can create safe locations for tracked items so they don’t receive notifications unless it is moved from the place.
iPhone, iPad and Mac users will be able to track the location of AirTags. Apple’s Find My network can also track the AirTags if it is separated from the user. The Bluetooth trackers are equipped with inbuilt speakers and Siri support letting users find lost items by giving voice commands. The AirTags will also be able to chime out loudly to locate the nearby item at the tap of a button.
The Apple AirTags is powered by CR2032 battery unit that is also user-removable. The Bluetooth tracking device doesn’t store any location data and it uses end-to-end encryption.
Apple AirTags price in India
The Apple AirTags is priced at Rs 3,190 and a pack of four costs Rs 10,900. It will be available for purchase from April 30th. The tracking device can be purchased from Apple.com and Apple Authorised Resellers across the country.
