HMD Global had originally scheduled an MWC event on February. However, the current coronavirus pandemic cancelled the tech trade show and the brand was forced to conduct a live event on March 19th. The company announced a range of smartphones including the Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3 and a feature phone called Nokia 5310. The Nokia 8.3 5G and 5.3 runs on stock Android 10 OS and are a part of the Android One program that guarantees two years of OS and three years of security updates respectively. The Nokia 1.3 runs on Android 10 Go edition. Let’s take a look at the technical specifications, pricing and availability of each device below:

Nokia 8.3 5G:

As the name suggests, the Nokia 8.3 5G is the Finnish brand’s first 5G smartphone. The device features an FHD+ LCD PureDisplay measuring 6.81-inches with a punch-hole cutout at the top left corner. The display supports HDR content. The smartphone’s rear panel design is similar to the Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2. It houses a circular camera module along with a LED flash. The Nokia 8.3 5G flaunts a Nordic Design and ships in Polar Night colour option. The smartphone’s power button located on the right side doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. 

The Nokia 8.3 5G’s quad-cameras feature ZEISS lens comprising of a 64MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide shooter, a 2MP macro and 2MP depth camera. Upfront, a 24MP snapper is fitted for selfies. The smartphone comes with camera-related features like 4K video recording, HDR, action cam mode and ZEISS cinema capture and editor. 

Internally, the Nokia 8.3 5G is equipped with a Snapdragon 765G processor with support for 5G connectivity. It packs up to 8GB RAM and offers 128GB onboard storage. There is a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage needs. The Nokia 8.3 5G draws its power from a 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging. 

The Nokia 8.3 5G will be available in Europe starting at EUR 599 (~Rs 47,800) for the 6GB+64GB option while the 8GB+128GB model carries a price tag of EUR 649 (~Rs 51,900). 

Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3:

The Nokia 5.3 is a mid-range device and arrives as the successor to the Nokia 5.1. The device sports a 6.55-inches display with 1,600 x 720 pixels screen resolution. There is a waterdrop notch on the top, a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Nokia 5.3 is powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor paired with 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage expandable up to 512GB. The smartphone sports a quad-rear camera setup consisting of a 13MP main shooter, 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. The device features an 8MP front-facing camera. The Nokia 5.3 is backed by a 4,000mAh battery unit and can be topped up via a Type-C port. 

As for the Nokia 1.3, it is an entry-level device with a 5.7-inch display bearing an HD+ resolution. A Snapdragon 215 chipset is at the core of the smartphone coupled with 1GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. There is an 8MP camera on the back and a 5MP selfie snapper along with pre-installed Google’s Camera Go app. The Nokia 1.3 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery unit. 

Both the Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3 will be available for purchase from April 2020. The former’s price starts at EUR 189 (~Rs 15,100) while the latter is priced at EUR 95 (~Rs 7,500). The smartphones can be availed in Charcoal, Cyan and Sand colour options. 

Nokia 5310:

Apart from smartphones, Nokia also announced the renewed version of the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic. The latest offering retains the same design and music buttons from the original feature phone. The feature phone comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA colour display. It has a curved glass screen and rounded corners. The Nokia 5310 is powered by a modest MediaTek MT6260A chipset along with 8MB RAM. It offers 16GB of native storage with a dedicated microSD card slot. The device features a VGA camera with flash. It runs on Nokia Series 30+ OS. The feature phone is backed by a 1,200mAh battery unit with standby time up to 30 days and talk time up to 20.7 hours. 

The Nokia 5310 will cost EUR 39 (~Rs 3,120) and will be available in White and Red and Black and Red colour options.
