Froyo loaded Acer Liquid Mini quietly arrives for Rs. 11,990 in India

Acer has quietly introduced new Liquid Mini smartphone that runs Android 2.2 Froyo. Like a little brother to the Acer Liquid Metal, the all new Liquid Mini has 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display with HVGA 320×480 pixel resolution. It’s never to late for new and affordable Android phones because that’s what most Indians are looking at. Priced at Rs. 11,990, this Liquid Mini will compete with Samsung Galaxy Fit & Wave models, Dell XCD35, Motorola Quench XT3, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, HTC Wildfire, and other models for the price range of about Rs. 12,000. Do note that I am just pointing at Android 2.2 Froyo touchscreen phones only.

Acer Liquid Mini houses a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor with 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM – that means it can easily run Android 2.3 Gingerbread if Acer releases it at all. Liquid Mini’s 3.2-inch LCD display with 320×480 pixel resolution with multi-touch support. The Android 2.2 Froyo will have Acer UI 4.0 Lite version layered on top of it. It includes Acer SocialJoggers a social networking application and other Android goodies (apps).

Liquid Mini comes with 5 megapixel camera with autofocus but no LED Flash. You can record 480p HD at 30fps video using that camera and upload it online. For entertainment, it does have Stereo FM with RDS and other features include Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm audio port, and 1300mAh battery. Decent configuration for Rs. 12,000 budget.

In past, Acer UI  has turned out be bit troublesome and sluggish for normal usage. If you don’t mind lack of faster processor, absence of LED Flash and underscaled video camera, then you can still consider the Liquid Mini as a decent option.
