The HP TouchPad - webOS Tablet

Ladies and gentlemen, Its 2011 and to say that this is the year of the tablets would not be an understatement. The frenzy that kicked off with the launch of the iPad last year is at its peak right now with a barrage of new tablets launched or being the verge of being launched in the days to come. All this while, the hot favorite (The iPad, of course) manages to continuously sell at jaw dropping volumes.

However, Apple’s dream run is being cut short by the steady and slow flow of Android based tablets that are appearing on the horizon. Just days ago, Google unveiled its “made for tablets” Android OS version, the Honeycomb which would be seen on almost all Android tablet arriving later this year.

Then there is the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook that is also set to arrive in the coming months, loaded with the impressive QNX OS. Earlier today, HP announced its entry in to the Tablets space with the official unveiling its webOS powered Touchpad which to be frank, looked to me like an iPad Clone. Its quite similar you see, as you can probably make out from the pictures.

Now that almost all the platforms have worthy contenders why not a quick comparison do on who fares well on what front?

Here is a pure spec to spec comparison. Note that in todays age, just the hardware specs aint enough. This is where Apple does well – even with a year old product.

  • Why is the Galaxy Tab missing.. You have included the 7″ Playbook though.
    Not Fair.

Especially when Galaxy tab Posses FULL Functionality to make & receive phone calls (In India too!)

  • Because this is more of a platform comparo. The Galaxy Tab is outdated since the Xoom with Android 3.0 is looming large already. Why put in two Android devices? These are currently the flagships of their respective platforms.
