Sony Ericsson Launches Mix Walkman and Txt Pro Handsets

Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of two new handsets following a worldwide competition open to the fans of Sony Ericsson on Facebook. The two new devices include a Walkman branded phone and a messaging oriented, QWERTY keyboard laden device. Let’s now take a closer look at both the handsets. We start with the Walkman handset which is christened the “Mix Walkman”.

The Mix Walkman phone is a full touchscreen handset complete with a 3 inch display and a 3.2 megapixel camera at the back. The display boasts of a resolution of 400*240 pixels The device is not a smartphone and comes loaded with the generic Sony Ericsson dumbphone OS with the familiar corner user interface seen on other Sony Ericsson devices. Interesting features of the phone include something called the Zappin key which lets the user preview the chorus of the next track and decide whether it is a favorite he wants to listen to. It also boasts of a Karaoke functionality that automatically lowers the volume of the vocals and lets the user sing along. The device comes with 100 MB of User memory and supports microSD cards for expanding the memory even further. The device does not support 3G networks but has Wi-Fi support.

Next up is the txt Pro which as you might have guessed is a messaging oriented device. The phone gets a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It also boasts of a unified application called ‘Friends” that is nothing but a social networking client with Facebook and Twitter support. Like on the Walkman Mix, this phone too gets a 3 inch touchscreen. Even the camera is similar with a resolution of 3.2 megapixels. The txt Pro too doesn’t seem to support 3G networks and only gets EDGE and WLAN support. I am not sure what prompted Sony Ericsson to do that.

Both the devices would be available starting Q3. The prices of both the devices are yet to be revealed.
