Android 2.2 Update For Dell Streak On The Way

The recently launched Dell Streak was quite contemporary on every front except for the software bit. A phone launched in late 2010 laden with Android 1.6 !? Only Dell and Sony Ericsson can do such a thing!  After Sony Ericsson did make amends by (finally) announcing Android 2.1 for its Xperia X10 lineup, its now the turn of Dell to do the same to its Streak tablet.

In a Facebook post, Dell has announced its intention to bring an Android 2.2 update to the Streak by the end of this very month. Large palmed users from the UK would be the first ones to get the update via an over the air mechanism. After the UK, it would arrive on other markets around the globe. An India specific date has not been announced  – but then since the Streak doesn’t have much localized content for its Indian version, it might not be a very difficult thing to do.

In the meantime, hold on to your Streaks. it’s set to become a meaner 5 inch tablet VERY soon.

  • Streak is absolutely great piece of equipment….I love the one I have, looking forward to upgrade mine. I gave up a iphone for this one with some doubts in my mind, but now I know it has been an absolutely great decision. Great product by Dell 🙂
