Google Releases Android 4.0.4 ICS Update Over-The-Air

Google finally answers the prayers of millions of their Android disciples for an update of Ice Cream Sandwich version 4.0 of Android on their smartphones. The search engine giant, in a post on the official Android page, on Google +, has announced that it has started rolling out an over-the-air update of Android 4.0.4 for multiple devices.

As of now, the update is only available for Nexus S, Xoom Wi-Fi, and HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus devices. Since the update is only on GSM devices, CDMA folks will have to wait a bit longer. However the post also suggests, that there will be updates for more devices in the next few weeks. More than a week ago, there was news suggesting that Nexus S will soon get the ICS update.

With the new Android update, Google seeks to address stability issues, along with a better camera performance, smoother screen rotation, improved phone number recognition and more. Since it is an OTA update, you will get a notification on your device to download and update the OS.

Prior to this, there was an update for Android 4.0.3 released for Nexus S, back in December last year,  however the same was pulled back as the same was deemed too unstable. As a result some of the users who managed to upgrade then were left in the lurch stuck with an unstable version and the others were left simply waiting.

Though the update is not available to the users for the same devices in the Indian market, this news is nothing short of a hope, that they will sooner or later, get to taste the divine Ice Cream Sandwich.
