Nokia Announces the Belle Laden 603 Smartphone

It was just three days ago that we first talked about the Nokia 603. Leaked photos of this Belle laden device were doing the rounds of the interweb since the past week. Anyway, Nokia has now announced the phone officially.

As expected, the 603 is targeted as a mid-range, affordable smartphone. As for the specs, this one is quite similar to the other members of the Nokia Belle family packing in the same 1GHz processor that powers the likes of the 600, 700 and the 701.

It features a 3.5 inch ClearBlack display which retains the “Symbian standard” resolution of 640*360 which seems to be stuck in a time warp since 2008 when Symbian ^1 was released on the 5800 Xpress Music.

The 603 is 12.7mm thin and tips the scales at 106.9g. On the connectivity front, it is pretty much up there with full support for WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100, GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900), Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and the latest HSDPA 3G offering downloads up to 14.4Mbps

The device comes preloaded with games like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja and apps like Shazam and YouTube. For the more business oriented there is Microsoft Office Communicator, Quick Office, Adobe PDF reader and Vlingo.

The 603 has a 5 megapixel camera at the back which can also capture 720p videos at 30 fps. Also, like we had said, this one too will feature an NFC chip. In fact, Nokia has clarified that NFC would be a standard feature on all its smartphones of the future.

The Nokia 603 will ship in Q4 2011 and is expected to cost around €200 at launch. We expect an India launch too in the not too distant future.
