Finally, we have the Nokia N8 landing on our desk and here are some quick unboxing shots before we go down and do a complete review:
The Nokia N8 box is unusually slim and is in blue. Shades of IBM, the original Big Blue. The box is a Plain Jane, truth be told. Yes, this box was a bit knocked out on the sides – strange as the others we saw fit together a lot better. But still, not a patch on the snazzies from Apple and HTC, who have elevated boxing to an art.
Layers within layers. Opening the box reveals another sheet of blue cardboard with the N8’s outline on it. Hmmm…
Tantara, (fanfare) And there is the N8. We got the dark grey model. Simple, but we think a lot more classy than some coloured ones. Honestly, we wanted red, but if wishes were horses…
Wireless? Who said? There is no end of connectors and chords inside the box, apart from slimmer than usual manuals and instruction cards.
One happy family. There you have it: all contents of the N8 box, for your supervision – charger, manual, HDMI adaptor, USB adaptor, data cable, three-pin charger, headphones, manuals, and the phone itself. Now, a closer look at the phone.

Digicam killer? The 12 megapixel Carl Zeiss lens with a Xenon flash, which has led to so much controversy. Our take in the review, folks!
Topped by HDMI. The top of the phone with miniHDMI port, power button and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Slim, isn’t it? And on the left side we have…the SIM card slot (yes, the SIM card goes in from the side), the micro SD card slot and the microUSB port. Relax, we do not have our fingers our the camera lens. We are not That dumb!
While to the right, we have got the volume toggle (which doubles up as zoom when using the camera), the sliding screen lock swithc, and the dedicated camera button
Finally, the bottom. Model details and we can hear Nokia veterans clapping at the inclusion of the micro-pin charging port. You can charge this baby from this as well as the micro-USB.
