Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab to get Android 2.3 Gingerbread Officially

We all know that number of smartphone and tablet users are already enjoying official/leaked Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware. Now Samsung has officially announced to release Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Galaxy S, Galaxy Ace/Gio/Fit and Galaxy Tab in couple of weeks from now.  This official update would be available Kies software phase-wise. From this week onwards, Samsung will start rolling out Gingerbread update in UK and Nordic countries. Gradually the Gingerbread update would be rolled out to Europe, North America, South East Asia, Middle East Asia, Africa and rest of the world.

Last week, Google announced the Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update at the Google I/O 2011 conference and promised to roll it out by end of this year.  Five months ago Google announced Android 2.3 Gingerbread and ever since then only select devices have been able to get the Gingerbread update. Reasons are best known only to Google since the company pulled Gingerbread update roll out a week ago. In terms of comparison, Gingerbread brings more smoother and better user interface for the Android based devices. However, not all Android devices would be Gingerbread upgrade capable. Following is what you can expect after upgrading your Galaxy devices from Android 2.2 FroYo to Android 2.3 Gingerbread:

· Faster Performance – Multimedia content now has a lower CPU consumption rate, while support for more powerful 3D Graphics enables an enhanced mobile gaming experience.
· Upgraded Usability – The user interface has been improved, enabling faster access and control and a more intuitive user experience. Users will also benefit from improved copy-and-paste functionality.

Apart from that, Galaxy devices users heavily demand for better battery life and quicker GPS response post the Gingerbread update. Certain forums have already got the Gingerbread update for Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab. I recommend you to wait for the official update from Samsung via Kies to get the best out of your Galaxy Device. Here’s is a list of Samsung Galaxy devices due for Gingerbread update:

– Galaxy Tab GT-P1000
– Galaxy S GT-I9000
– Galaxy Ace GT-S5830
– Galaxy Gio GT-S5600
– Galaxy Fit  GT-S5670
– Galaxy mini GT-5570

Though there’s no mention of the Galaxy S LCD GT-I9003 in this list officially, Samsung Mobile India’s Twitter account has been promising Gingerbread for different Galaxy devices to arrive in June-July period. Hold on to your devices for official Gingerbread updates.
