Sony has unveiled the latest model in the Xperia Z lineup of high end smartphones. Called the Xperia Z Ultra, this handset features a humungous 6.4 inch, full HD display and is the first smartphone to be announced with the Qualcomm 800 beast of a processor. While being amongst the largest screened phablet on the planet, this one also happens to be amongst the slimmest of devices at just 6.5mm thi(ck)n. The overall size though, is still intimidating at 179.4 x 92.2mm (7.06×3.63in).

Like I said earlier, the device packs in the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 that has four cores running at a dizzying 2.2 GHz. While HTC’s Optimus G will also be getting the same processor, the Xperia Z Ultra is indeed the first device to come loaded with it and this also makes it the smartphone with the highest stock clock speed. The Xperia Z Ultra has 16 GB of internal memory and packs in a memory card slot as well that can take in cards of up to 64 GB in size.

With the Xperia Z Ultra, Sony will also offer support for capacitive stylii so that users can the device can be used for note taking and drawings. Sony has not yet decided on a launch date or put an expected price tag on this super phone. But you can expect this one to show up in retail stores by the third quarter of this year.
