The Lenovo ZUK Z1 Launch is Today

Lenovo is set to announce the ZUK Z1 in India today. The smartphone is being touted to being the first ever smartphone that has been produced post a crowd funding. The ZUK Z1 was announced in China last year and the phone is already making headlines in India. If you are looking to follow the launch of the device, you can go ahead and tune into Youtube today sharp at 12PM. We have embedded the Youtube stream right in the post to make it easier for you.

The specifications of the device are already well known given that the global launch of the device is behind us. What remains to be seen the most, is the price point at which Lenovo decides to drop the phone here in India. In China, the phone is retailing for close to $269.90, which roughly comes to be around the Rs 17,700 mark. It would not be surprising to see the phone come in at around the Rs 18,000 mark to take on the likes of Motorola Moto X Play, while boasting of stronger internals.

In terms of specifications, if you have missed out on, the phone comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD display, 3GB of RAM and Snapdragon 801 out of the box. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phones and a 13MP rear camera to go with the 5MP front facing snapper. The battery is expected to be a major USP of the phone with a 4100 mAh non-removable unit.

The Lenovo ZUK Z1 would be the first device post the exclusive agreement between YU and Cyanogenmod came to an end, as the phone comes with CM 12.1 out of the box, based on Android 5.1.1. With CM 13 already out in Beta, you would expect the update for Marshmallow to roll out soon.
