Videocon Launches New Android Handset in India

Homegrown phone maker Videocon mobiles has just launched it’s Android handset in India. Called the Zeus, the phone, at least going by the specs looks interesting. Let’s now see what the phone has on offer for you.

The Zeus comes with a 3.2 inch multi touch enabled capacitive touch screen. The display has a resolution of 480*320 – which is not bad at all. A 1230 mAH battery powers the device. Another interesting thing is that the phone comes with a spare battery’! This is probably a first by any manufacturer we think! The phone weighs 114 grams – which is decent for a full touch screen device.

It has a 5 mega pixel autofocus camera with LED Flash as well. Now this is one thing we would want to test as soon as we get a review unit!

The Zeus boasts of 512 MB internal memory. It comes with an 8GB microSD card (which is great!) and supports up to 32 GB of memory. The phone is also a decently spec’d multimedia capable device and also has a music player with multi format support (AMR, AAC, AAC+, EAAC+, MIDI, MP3, and WAV). Yes, there is a 3.5mm jack thrown in as well. On the connectivity front, there is full support for 3.5G (HSDPA 7.2MBPS/HSUPA 2MBPS) and Quadband 2G: 850/900/1800/1900 with UMTS 2100 networks.

The phone also gets GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

Videocon has priced this phone at Rs.12,900 which going by the specs, seems decent enough. However, we would only recommend one after we get to review one of these.

  • get ur facts right.. don’t write reviews just because u have to.
    screen size is 3.2″
    phone memory is 512MB
and check on the fact if videocon is manufacturing the phone itself. It’s a chinese manufacturer as far as i know. Videocon is just rebranding it.

  • The screen size and memory size bit was a typo that went unnoticed. Fixed both! Apologies for that.

As for the phone being Chinese, well, that is a known fact about almost all re branded Chinese phones. Nothing new there. In fact the Videocon phone is not the first rebranded Chinese Android phone to be launched in India.
