We knew this was coming, sort of. 55 days after Samsung released its newest and most powerful Android powered handset, the Galaxy S II, the company has announced that the phone has become the fastest selling handset ever made by Samsung. It bettered the record of its predecessor, the Galaxy S by a huge margin. Samsung adds that 3 million phones in 55 days amount them selling a Galaxy S II handset every 1.5 seconds. That’s amazing!
The “original” Galaxy S took around 85 days to breach the 3 million mark and since then went on to breach the 10 million mark as well. At the rate at which the Galaxy S II is going, it seems, the 10 million mark too would be attained very soon.
Samsung also added that they had managed to “dramatically” increase their market share in Europe (mostly at the expense of beleaguered Nokia), mostly due to the sales of the Galaxy S lineup. Apart from topping the sales charts in the UK, Samsung has also increased its share and now tops the markets of Austria and Switzerland.
Samsung has also announced that it is planning to launch the Galaxy S II in the phone in Mexico and Brazil where the company expects similar patronage.
