The 3D market in India is surely hotting up big time with a horde of manufacturers like LG, Samsung and others launching their Smart 3D TV’s. Though, I must mention that most of them are a bit highly priced and seem to be unaffordable for the masses.
And this is why an interesting and innovative solution by 3D International and ThreeD Hologram might appeal to many, considering the fact that the solution is priced at a much lower cost than the 3D TV’s or even 3D projectors currently available in the market.
Called the Visuz CLD, this is an innovative product which consists of a hardware and software application which would help transform a 2D screen into a 3D one.
The hardware is called the Visuz CLD (Chromatic Light Deflector) which can be attached to an LCD / LED screen from any manufacturer. And with the help of the software called Game Driver, which once installed on the PC, the content on the screen is converted into a 3D one which can then be watched without the need of 3D glasses via the Visuz CLD.
For now the product can be used only on PC monitors or the Out of Home (OOH) commercial displays as it requires the Game Driver software to be installed for it to convert the normal 2D content into 3D. Mr. Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Manaf – Executive Chairman of 3D International has indicated that they are looking to partner with LCD / LED manufacturers so that they can have the software placed in the TV’s as a native application, thus enabling the use of the Visuz CLD on smart televisions as well.
Personally, I must admit that the 3D experience is not that great as compared to what we are able to get on the Smart 3D TV’s and also the written text appears to be pixellated which renders it entirely unreadable at times. I hope that they are able to sort out this critical issue, as attaching and removing the CLD again and again is not a very convenient option.
But importantly, it still allows the masses get a taste of the 3D experience at the comfort of their homes at an affordable price. At the same time, it is important for Three3D Hologram, the distribution and marketing partner for Visuz CLD to price the product aggressively so as to enable the middle class to pick it up and try it.
The Visuz CLD is set to hit the market sometime in June and will be priced at Rs. 19,500. We believe that the Visuz CLD is overpriced at this price point and would recommend it for use only at a price point substantially below the Rs. 10,000 mark.
