After Apple, the Korean giant, Samsung is proving itself to be the next best in the tech world with an increasing number of its Galaxy series smartphones turning out to be hot sellers one after the other and huge record breaking sales figures.
After the tremendous success of Samsung’s Galaxy SII, now it’s the Galaxy Note which is making headlines after it managed to hit sales of 5 million. Since its launch in October 2011, only 1 million units of the Note were sold by the end of the year. And since then Samsung has managed to ship a further 4 million units in the first three months of 2012.
Though the numbers are not even close to what Apple’s iPhone 4 / 4S or even Samsung’s own Galaxy SII has achieved, it is nonetheless considering the fact that the Galaxy Note is a device made for a niche audience consisting mainly of the business users.
The Galaxy Note was hailed by Samsung as a ground breaking device claiming it to be a smartphone cum tablet. Although many of the critics have labeled it as “just an over-sized smartphone”, the Galaxy Note with its impressive shipping numbers seems to have hit the right notes with its target audience, accumulating impressive numbers of 5 million units.
With a scheduled update to ICS or Android 4.0 around the corner in Q2, the overall sales figures of the Galaxy Note might just proliferate in the latter part of 2012. To add to it, such innovative marketing campaigns always help.
