When all Xperia X10 users were happy about the update to Android 2.1 – many Xperia X8 users were wondering whether they were left in the lurch. That handset too has been running Android 1.6 right from the time of its launch. However, it seems Xperia X8 users too would be seeing their handsets running Android 2.1 in the very near future – in fact, before the end of this very year if we are to believe our friends over at PC World.
While Sony Ericsson is yet to officially let us know if this update is on track, a company spokesman has divulged to them that Android version 2.1 would indeed arrive for the phone before the end of the year. We expect the Sony Ericsson blog to be updated soon with details regarding this one. This rather heartening piece of news comes close on the heels of Sony Ericsson releasing updates for its Xperia X10 lineup starting Sunday. These updates have started trickling in to India as well where thankfully, Sony Ericsson sells these phones unlocked and unbranded.
If you happen to be an X8 user, be patient for a few more months like you have been so far – your needs have been taken care of!
