Android for tablets, the missing block is ‘Honeycomb’

We have seen endless speculations on what would be the Android version that google would push out for tablets. While Google commented on Froyo not being optimum for tablets all eyes were on Gingerbread to be the Android 3.0 that would bring some tablet love to the platform.

Now with 2.3 being gingerbread being thrown into the equation, we heard about Icecream being the 3.0/4.0 release. So which of these is the Android release? Well we can confirm that none of these! Folks over at Samsung were able to confirm us (during the Tab release) that Honeycomb is the Android version being exclusively prepared for tablets and the same can be expected early next year.

So the smartphone progression with gingerbread, Icecream would go on and Honeycomb might well drop at CES next year.
