HTC has confirmed to folks over at Slashgear that HTC’s popular handsets, the Desire, Desire HD and the Desire Z would be getting a much sought after update to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) soon. The spokesman also confirmed that the just introduced HTC Incredible S too would get the same treatment. The Incredible S, announced at the MWC earlier this month was listed as running Android 2.2 for reasons best known to HTC. This, while the other handset launched on the same day, the Desire S ran Android 2.3.
The Gingerbread update for these devices would arrive in Q2 this year. These updates would be welcomed by most HTC Desire and Desire HD users who might have thought their device might be sidelined with the arrival of all these new bunch of Desire branded handsets. The HTC Desire for your information has already been through an update when it was updated to Froyo last year.
Both the devices, the Desire and the Desire HD have been around for quite some time now. There are reports of this phone being replaced by something known as the HTC Pyramid later this year.
