The much awaited update to Adobe Flash 10.2 has arrived for a host of Android powered devices today. This update is said to endow Android devices with a host of performance improvements. The new version would be better suited to take advantage of the current generation of multi-core, GPU-enabled processors to deliver Flash videos, games and other interactive web content on the latest smartphones and tablets. The new version is said to offer a more optimised experience for touch screen devices.
The new version is available for all devices running Android 2.2 and above. That said, most of the attention is obviously on Honeycomb powered tablets on which the improvements offered by the new version would be more pronounced. On Honeycomb, Flash 10.2 would offer Stage Video rendering pipeline that would help deliver a smooth playback of high-definition Flash video content. Existing H.264 video content would be smoother and would be played with lesser load on the CPU as well.
