Meet Robot Hanako 2, she is a dental patient “Made in Japan”. As you may have guessed by now, this is a robot made for the dentists to practice their procedures. The robot is designed to behave and simulate human behaviour so that the dentists can optimise their dentistry tools and techniques.
Hanako is made by Tmsuk in co-operation with the maker of ‘love dolls’ (Ahem! We don’t want to get into that). It’s made of silicone to give it a more human feel. The inside of the mouth as well including the cheek linings and the tongue are made up of silicone and allow for a degree deviation. Its unique tongue also allows it to simulate a gag reflex.
Besides it can also perform other human actions like rolling the eyes and blinking, coughing and sneezing and opening and closing her mouth. The robot astonishingly has speech recognition abilities as well and can describe their dental problems to doctor as well.
