Well just as we thought corporate hacking were done with. The hackers are back again, and this time they have crossed into the military territory. Anonymous have hacked Booz Allen Hamilton today, which is one of the largest American Consulting firm and apparently handles a lot of business for the Pentagon, as well.
It seems that Anonymous have got hold of a lot of military business data that they have leaked. Named ‘Military Meltdown Monday’, the leak includes about 90,000 logins of military personnel from the US CENTCOM, the Marine Corps, various Air Force facilities, Homeland Security and State Department staff among others.
The hacked data might also include highly confidential information exchanged between Booz Allen Hamilton staff and top military executives. It seems that the data already includes info on three former Directors of National Intelligence and one former head of the CIA. To rub it in they’ve put 4GB of source code from Booz’s servers, as well.
Anonymous has definitely got a lot of sensitive information as well and it will be interesting to see the reactions of Booz Allen and Pentagon. One thing for sure is that Booz Allen will have a lot of explaining to do as to why they had “basically…no security measures in place.” (in Anonymous’ words) with so much of sensitive data.
