Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) smartphones in December 2017. Starting from this year, markets like South Korea, Vietnam and Europe have only received the smaller Galaxy A8 (2018). The South Korean tech giant has introduced the Galaxy A8+ (2018) in India making it the first country to receive the larger A8 model. The 2018 Galaxy A8+ is now available for pre-orders exclusively on Amazon India.
The Galaxy A8 duo are the first non-premium smartphones from Samsung to come with Infinity Display design. This has been available so far only on premium smartphones like Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8.
Flanked with glass on both sides with an aluminum frame in between, the Galaxy A8+ (2018) comes with IP68 certified dust and water-resistant chassis. It measures 159.9 x 75.7 x 8.3 mm and weighs 191 grams. It is fitted with a 6-inch Super AMOLED screen that offers an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and Full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,220 pixels. Samsung’s homebrewed Exynos 7885 chipset powers the smartphone with 6 GB of RAM.
The Galaxy A8+ (2018) has a native storage of 64 GB and it also features an external storage slot for adding a microSD card. Along with the smaller A8 (2018), it is the first Samsung phone to come with dual front-facing cameras comprising of a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel sensor. The Live Focus feature allows users to enhance the bokeh effect before or after shooting portrait shots.
A fingerprint scanner and a rear camera of 16-megapixel resides on the back panel of the Galaxy A8+ (2018). The rear camera of the phone is equipped with features like LED flash, hyperlapse mode and digital video stabilization. It is packed with a 3,500mAh battery that comes with fast charging capabilities through USB-C. It is equipped with other features such as dual-SIM support, facial recognition, Bixby AI, Samsung Pay support and Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.
The landing page for Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) on Amazon India states that it can be pre-ordered with a price tag of Rs. 32,990. It can be availed in colors like Black and Gold. The retailer giant will begin the sales of the smartphone from 20th January. There is no confirmation on whether Samsung will be also launching the smaller Galaxy A8 (2018) in India.
