We kinda knew that it would be literally raining Android phones at this year’s MWC. We also knew that we would come across quite a few interesting handsets at the event. Perhaps, the most interesting Android handset to be unveiled so far at the event has to be Acer’s Iconia Smart. This is quite a looker, thanks to an extra-long and a equally humongous 4.8 inch display. The resolution on this thing is a crazy 1024*480 pixels. The longishness of the screen endows it with a 21:9 aspect ratio which shoukd be great for watching movies.
There is an 8 megapixel camera at the rear of the phone with LED flash for low light photography. For Video calling, there is a front 2 Megapixel camera. The phone gets an HDMI out port as well. Connectivity options include WLAN and Bluetooth.
The phone is powered by a 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor. It gets a 6-axis motion sensing for gaming purposes.
On the software side of things, this woud run Android 2.3, Gingerbread at the time of launch. Acer has announced that the device would start shipping from May 1, 2011.
