We all know that Sony Ericsson will directly be jumping to Android 2.3 for the Xperia X10 and this is great news, initially Sony had decided that they will not update the X10 but due to requests by customers Sony has finally decided to go one final upgrade to the Xperia X10 and we also would like to say that the Xperia X10 mini, pro and the X8 will remain on 2.1 and not be upgraded.
With the upgrade to 2.3 you might also lose some features, the list of features are as follows:
• The Gingerbread update will be carrying the Stock Andriod Camera so you will lose face recognition, smile shutter and other features related to camera.
• Moxier will be replaced by EAS which is actually a better thing
• DRM for protected contents in the phone will be lost during the upgrade
• The Gingerbread upgrade will not support the Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore Client
Well there are some people out there who have bought the device just for its camera and they would not be happy with this. This upgrade will not be over the air you will have to plug it in the computer via USB cable to upgrade. There is still time for the upgrade to arrive as it will only come at the end of Q2 or the beginning of Q3. So maybe Sony Ericsson will work more on the upgrade and fix these issues.
