After its announcement and subsequent launch on March 22, 2012, Game publisher Rovio has announced in a blog post that their latest version of Angry Birds – “Angry Birds Space” has crossed an astonishing 50 million downloads! It took just 35 days for them to cross this mark
If we are to believe the blog post, it also turn out that this makes Angry Birds Space the fastest growing mobile game to date. As expected, it has managed to break all records set by previous editions of Angry Birds which were record breaks themselves.
Last month, just hours after the release of the game it had managed to get into the top position on Apple’s App Store charts in more than 30 countries. The game crossed the 10 million downloads mark on the third day itself.
Rovio has also been busy releasing updates for the game. The last one issued just a week ago added ten new levels – all for free. This was released through the Android Play Store and the Apple App Store. The company has promised fresh updates in the near future as well.
Anyway, Angry Birds’ meteoric rise has been closely matched by archrival Zynga’s Draw Something which also managed to cross the 50 million downloads mark. It however took 50 days to cross the milestone.
