In its ruling the Dutch court has ordered Apple to pay patent violation damages to Samsung in the Netherlands. As per the Hague court Apple violates on a patent to connect to the internet owned by Samsung and the violation is applicable to iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4 and the iPad 1 & 2.
Apple has been asked to pay an amount based on certain number of iPhones and iPads sold in the Netherlands. The sales figure are to be calculated from August 2010, which the court believes to be the date since Apple knew it was violating Samsung’s internet patent.
It is unclear for now if the ruling of the Dutch court will have any implications on other cases pending in other countries. Apple and Samsung are involved in patent suits in over a dozen countries.
