I know this is kinda getting boring now, but yeah news is that Apple had taken its recent patent infringement war to a new frontier when the company sued archrival Samsung in Japan. This comes at a time when Apple and Samsung are both interlocked in a serious legal tussle in various countries across the globe. In Germany, for example, Apple has already managed to block the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab model.
As for Japan, the new case has been filed with the Tokyo District Court and is virtually the same case that Apple has filed in other regions of the world. It seeks the immediate suspension of the sale of Samsung Galaxy branded devices in Japan for patent infringements. Apple also seeks a compensation of 100 million Yen as damages. In fact, the first hearing of the case was yesterday.
Until now at least in Germany, Apple has had the upper hand in this battle thanks to the injunctions it manage to impose on Samsung. The latter has however retorted that they would be fighting the case and are confident of winning it. Also to be noted is the fact that Samsung had deferred the launch of the Galaxy Tab in Australia because of a similar case filed by Apple in that country.
The latest setback for Samsung was when a German court passed an injunction that led to Samsung withdraws the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 on display at the recently concluded IFA Conference at Berlin.
