We have heard of this one in the not too distant past as well. News is, we have a Chinese blog reporting about Apple field testing prototype next generation iPhones already. The “iPhone 6” that is being tested supposedly features a 4.9 inch display – making it significantly bigger than the current iPhone 5S and 5C models both of which feature that tried and tested 4 inch retina display.
In an earlier report, we had talked about an analyst predicting that Apple will début a new iPhone in 2014 with a display that would measure at least 4.8 inches diagonally. The current report is consistent with that one giving it tad more credibility. The report also adds that it is unlikely that Apple would venture into making a phablet sized iPhone. This is because of the fact that it considers the screen size of up to 5 inch the upper limit where a device can be handled using just a single hand.
Apart from these screen size related rumours, nothing else is known about the mythical iPhone 6 as of now. There was a Bloomberg report though not long ago which claimed that Apple could launch not one – but two large screened iPhones with curved glass around its edges – again something that would be needed to be taken with the traditional pinch of salt. If Apple does increase the screen size with the iPhone 6, it is quite likely that the display resolution would be bumped up significantly as well – at least to a 1920*1080 pixel full HD panel.
Do you fancy using a large screened iPhone if such a thing indeed comes out of the Apple stables?
