BlackBerry 10 Delayed, Might Lay RIM to Rest

We all thought that BlackBerry is facing intense heat of competition from Apple’s iOS, and Google’s Android and almost all of us have predicted that the rise of the two will lead to the demise of RIM pretty soon.

Well now it seems that RIM itself is digging its own graveyard as the co-CEO Mike Lazardis announced that the BlackBerry 10 devices might be delayed and would not launch until the latter part of 2012.

Now this might certainly ring the death knell for the already troubled RIM as the investors already unhappy with its performance might just pull the plug on the firm. Though Lazardis tried to reason stating that the delay is caused by the unavailability of new-dual core processors which could not be manufactured in bulk yet.

This would mean that the new QNX based phones from RIM will be launched only once the sixth generation of the iPhone is launched, and an array of next generation Android phones make it to the market. We wonder how many users would even be interested in looking at or considering the BlackBerry 10 range of smartphones.

Analysts like Mike Abramsky of RBC Capital Markets have already begun to undercut the stock performance of RIM from $20 to $16. Also, the revenues of the Ontario based firm are predicted to take a hit with analysts lowering it to almost $18.1 billion from the earlier estimate of $19.3 billion.
