The specifications of BlackBerry Storm 3 (9570) have surfaced on the web, yet again. Yes, the specifications have been spotted/reported number of times earlier. These are claimed to be the final specifications of third Storm iteration. BlackBerry Storm 3 would simply be a refresh of Storm 2 albeit with better touchscreen. New list of rumored specifications indicate that they are practically the same which were leaked in July this year.
First BlackBerry Storm device surely disappointed many, but RIM didn’t give up and worked up bit better version – Storm 2. Unfortunate for RIM that many other devices with Android OS were released that over shadowed Storm 2. With several bunches of high-end phones, I doubt if Storm 3 is actually going to impress with BlackBerry OS 6.0 to an average Joe. The Storm 3 gets beefed with 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen compared to the 3.2-inch second generation SurePress one in Storm 2. So obviously we can expect better kinetic scrolling and touch response on its capacitive display.
Storm 3 camera gets updated to 5 megapixel camera with fixed focus and dual-LED flash which is a standard amongst high-end smart phones. As of now, we can’t confirm whether the phone will support 720p HD recording. Considering the 512MB RAM (twice than in Storm 2) and 1GB ROM, I think the phone could offer 720p HD recording unless the processor and chip set lacks the functionality. Unlikely that RIM would’ve used last generation hardware to support the BlackBerry OS 6.0 on the gorgeous AMOLED touchscreen. Apparently, every phone geek and BlackBerry fan is eager to know what hardware RIM would use in this ‘Odin Refresh’ dubbed smartphone.
Supporting 3G Networks, Storm 3 will have Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) along with GPS. I doubt if 1200mAh battery might be strong enough to provide longer talk/usage time. Hopefully the BlackBerry OS 6.0 with Kinetic Scrolling and a couple of other features. We genuinely look forward to some interesting apps to work smoothly with new operating system and offer better response to the AMOLED display.
According to me, BlackBerry Storm 3 might be announced anytime next month.
