It’s been quite some time since RIM launched the BlackBerry PlayBook in the US and Canada and looks like RIM is now ready to bring the tablet to a bunch of new countries in the next few weeks. Thats right, RIM has in an announcement, confirmed that they are launching the PlayBook in 16 more countries in the next few weeks. The surprising bit is the fact that they have included India to this list as well! Other countries included in the list are UK, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela.
All these markets would see the arrival of the PlaybBook within the next 30 days. While RIM is yet to reveal specific launch dates, there is a rumor about the UK launch date being just days away – on June 16 to be precise! That said, we guess most people would be happy to learn that their wait for the BlackBerry tablet has finally ended.
It would be interesting to see how RIM plans to price the tablet here in India. The Indian tablet market seems to be on par with the rest of the world these days with almost all major players readying to release their tablets here. Along with the PlayBook, the HoneyComb laden Motorola Xoom too is expected to officially land in Indian next month.
Staying with the BlackBerry PlayBook, you might recall that we have had a go at the PlayBook at the CES back in January. You might want to check out that report for our first impressions on the tablet.
