Blackberry Torch: Goldman says sales poor, Amazon cuts price by 50%

Now if the reviews were any indication you probably knew this was coming. As it turns out the Blackberry 9800 Torch that went on sale on 12th August isn’t off to a flyer as you would expect a major product from a leading smartphone company today. According to Goldman Sachs the response to the handset has been ‘underwhelming’ and nto many stores are going out of stock for the same. Also highlighted is the fact that most sales are upgrades from existing Blackberry users.

And what seems to be a attempt to accelerate sales at this juncture is a 50% price cut by Amazon.com on the Blackberry Torch. The handset not retails on the site for $99.99 against the launch price of 199. The phone features the latest RIM Blackberry OS 6 and comes with a down sliding keyboard + touchscreen design. All the best RIM, we await the Bold 3 🙂
