BlackBerry’s newest flagship, the Z30 which was officially announced a month or so ago is all set for an Indian launch on October 24. This is of course, according to fresh reports emanating from the market. The current speculation is that the handset would arrive for a sub 45k price tag. In case you have a short term memory issues, let us run you briefly through the specifications of this handset,
Apart from boasting of a 5-inch, 720 x 1280 pixel display, the BlackBerry Z30 runs BB OS 10.2 – the latest update to the platform. It is powered by a generation old 1.7 gigahertz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. This chip is supported by 2 GB worth of RAM and 16 GB of on board memory. You can thankfully expand the memory further using micro SD cards. The imaging part is handled by the 8 megapixel main camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. All this hardware is powered by a largish 2880 mAH battery that nests under the hood.
The decision to bring a phablet sized BlackBerry seems to be a last ditch attempt by the Canadian phonemaker to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive market. The company has already reduced the prices of its existing line up of handsets here in India as part of a festive offer. Experts however are of the opinion that the price reduction might actually be due to lack of string demand for devices based on the OS 10. BlackBerry is also yet to release the new cross platform version of BBM which was supposed to arrive a month ago.
Anyway, would you be considering getting yourselves a Z30 once it makes its official entry into India?
