German home and car audio equipment major Blaupunkt has made its entry in to the consumer gadgets arena with the launch of a bunch of new headphones in the country. The company as you might be already aware, is a big player in the car audio equipment sector and has a strong brand recall in India which the firm hopes to capitalize on.
The new headphones are targeted at a wide range of audiences and range from basic in ear headphones to prosumer level noise cancellation headphones. There is also a dedicated lineup for kids with kid-friendly features. The product category are named “Style”, “Comfort”, “Sport Talk”, “Pure Talk”, “Pure” , and “Kids”. The range is priced between an affordable Rs. 1,490 to a relatively expensive Rs 14,990.
The Style headphones are the top of the line On Ear headphones that are targeted at a serious consumer. As expected from a product of its class, it offers active noise cancellation as well as the ability to use interchangeable ear pads of different colors. It also sports a trendy design and also gets a music sharing feature that lets users connect another set of headphones to this one so that you can share the music with a friend and listen to the same track together. Offered in two color options, this one will set you back by Rs 14,990
Next in line is the Comfort series headphone which also boasts of Active Noise Cancellation abilities. Features wise, it falls short of the pricier Style range of headphones – but is a great option for users seeking headphones with noise cancellation abilities at a relatively affordable price tag. The Comfort series will cost your Rs 9,990.
Blaupunkt’s next range is called Sports Talk series and as the name suggests, is intended for people in to sports and for those who love to work out. These earphones have a unique dual design that lets them to be used in two modes – a sports mode where the earphone will be held to your ears using clips so that you can walk and run around without the fear of them falling off. Once done, you can remove the clips and use the device as a normal in ear headphone.
The “Talk” in the Sport Talk moniker signifies that this model can also be used as a wired headset with your mobile phone. The earphones for the same reason come with two separate extensions – one with microphone and the other with a regular 3.5 mm audio jack. Sports Talk will be sold for Rs 3,990.
Then we have the Pure and the Pure Talk headphones that are basic in ear earphones. The Pure Talk version is the same – but with a headset addition. Both these are designed to be used with mobile phones or tablets and are priced at Rs 2,490 for the earphones and Rs. 2990 for the PureTalk headset.
Blaupunkt also has its range of kids’ headphones that come with special ear pads. These headphones also feature removable skins that can be used to change the look of the device to suit the preferences of the kid. Blaupunkt has also gone a step ahead and has added in blank skins that the user can customize and print according to the preferences of the child. The most touted about feature on the kinds line up is its volume limiter functionality that doesn’t allow the volume on the headphones to be increased beyond a set limit. Apart from these headphones, Blaupunkt has also bought the HS 112 Bluetooth earphone to India which has been priced at Rs 1,490.
These headphones from Blaupunkt arrive in an overcrowded market where the company will face stiff competition from the likes of JBL, Creative, Sony, SkullCandy and Philips – all of which have an established track record in India.
