Well its not often that a concept car is unveiled in India, that too a BMW. So it was a welcome surprise to have a BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics concept car unveiled in by Praful Patel, Honorable Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises at Deutsche Motoren in New Delhi, India. This car is being showcased in India for the first time and will be on display at the new BMW Studio, Connaught Place, New Delhi till 24 May 2011.
The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is a four seater, road ready concept sports car. It has an amazing fuel efficiency of 26.5 kmpl and a CO2 emission rate of just 99 gms/km which is way better than any other conventional hybrid car. Must admit that this car has to be one of the coolest looking hybrid cars around.
With a top speed of about 250kmph and an acceleration of 0-100 km/hr in just 4.8 seconds holds it as one of the fastest hybrid sports car as well. The car is powered by BMW’s latest innovative ActiveHybrid technology. It also makes use of the Brake Energy Regeneration method. This is similar to the KERS or Kinetic Energy Recovery System used in Formula One cars.
Also the car runs on diesel and electrically is powered by the lithium-polymer rechargeable battery. Yes its a plug-in hybrid. The range in the electric mode alone is around 50 kms per charge; which goes up to 700 kms when combined with the 24 ltr diesel tank.
