Micromax is readying the launch of yet another low end Android powered handset in the days to come. The company’s website has listed a new entry level handset called the “Bolt” A51 which is expected to be priced at around the Rs.4000 mark and possible, even lesser when it is launched. Micromax’s intention is clear. It seems to be in the mood to stifle competition from fellow Indian brands like Karbonn, Lava and the likes. Both these companies have ultra low end Android powered handsets like the Karbonn A3, A4 and the Lava Iris 349 and the Iris 355.
Let’s now quickly take a look at the spec sheet of the Bolt A51. As you would expect from handset of this class, this runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and would most likely be not upgraded to ICS and other newer versions. It packs in a processor that is running at 832 Mhz. The amount of RAM is a paltry 256 MB which I am sure is grossly inadequate But then, let us remind you the price of this handset as well. The handset sports a 3.5 inch 320*480 pixel display which can display 262k colors. Surprisingly, Micromax throws in two cameras for this phone – a front facing VGA camera for video calls and a main 2 megapixel fixed focus camera. The main camera can also capture VGA quality videos.
The phone supports 3G networks which will ensure that you are not irritated with slow network speed whilst on the move. When you are at home or office , you can seamlessly switch to Wi-Fi. The internal ROM is just 512 MB. You can add micro SD cards for storage purposes. Connectivity options are comprehensive and as you already know, it supports 3G and WLAN. Apart from that it also gets micro USB and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. And as expected of a Micromax device, this is a dual SIM device as well.
The Bolt A51 is powered by a 1500 mAH battery that should be good to see you through an entire day of moderate usage. The A51 is expected to be officially launched in the days to come.
