Now we are not usually interested in the enterprise segment being a hardcore consumer tech website – but then there are quite a few products that we do not mind taking a look at. The latest entry in to the category of such products is the latest ET1 Tablet from Motorola.
This Android powered device is designed to be a complete enterprise solution and is capable of satisfying a wide variety of commercial usage requirements. For example it can act as a point of sale device when in the company of a retailer and act as an inventory tool or even a research assistant depending on who is using the tablet.
The tablet runs a modified version of Android 2.3.4 which Motorola says is laced with lots of security protocols to safeguard all your data. Motorola also provides custom applications and business tools for the tablets which can be customized for bulk orders.
As for more tablet like features, well this one gets a 7 inch display with a Gorilla glass coating for extra durability. The tablet also has a tough built and is designed to work in conditions where your normal tablets might give up. It can also withstand bumps and drops – a common thing in the corporate environment.
As for the features, this one gets front and rear cameras, the capability to capture 720p videos as well as a hot swappable battery. That’s right, a hot swappable battery which you can replace whiles the device is still powered on. This is done with the help of multi slot battery and tablet chargers. Other extra functionalities include the option to add bar code scanners and a magnetic stripe reader.
On the hardware front this one gets 1 GB RAM, 4 GB Flash plus 4 GB micro SD (totals 8 GB flash memory). It will also support up to 32 GB memory using micro SD cards. The processor is an OMAP4 dual-core 1 GHz x2 +DSP. The ET1 would be available by the end of 2011. The price though is yet to be disclosed.
