The ongoing feud between Apple and Samsung has made the two tech giants almost an open book with both of them having to make an array of revelations in order to make their case stronger against the other.
Now Samsung recent documents submission in court has revealed that they are working on two Windows Phone 8 devices called the Odyssey and Marco.
As per the document, both the devices will be running on a dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 chipset, which Microsoft has been testing for the Windows Phone 8 for quite some time now.
The Odyssey has been described as an “iconic smartphone”, which boasts of a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolution and also sports an 8MP rear camera. Odyssesy also has NFC and should boast of features like Wallet Hub and Tap+ send features.
Whereas, the Marco seems to be a budget smartphone featuring a 4 inch S-AMOLED display with WVGA resolution armed with a 5MP shooter at the back. Both the handsets will be LTE capable as per the documents and should see a launch sometime in the fourth quarter of 2012, around the expected launch of Windows Phone 8.
The release of the Windows Phone 8 will make the platform more competitive as players like HTC, Huawei, Samsung and a few others are set to join Nokia to manufacture Windows Phone devices. Perhaps this was the push that the Windows Phone platform needed all this while as it was chugging along.
The platform race is set to get all the more competitive from the next year and it would be very interesting to see how Samsung and Nokia fare in the inter platform competition and where Windows Phone stands to Android and iOS in the intra platform league.
